  • A great album that deserves a little more recognition. Just give a listen to Young Blood if you want to get a feel for it, or if you like The Strokes it should be right up your alley. As a not so popular band its normal to assume sub par production for the least available format but here we get a taste of that sweet quality we tend to lack these days. The pressing is quite decent with medium to low surface noise with just a few pops that Im sure are just static from my copy. The cut is done with enough dynamics and clarity which is great for 45 minutes of this kind of music on just one record. Its not overly bright and edgy either, like most sub par produced modern music on records which is probably helped by Calbis mixing and mastering work, no unpleasant sibilant vocals or instruments. The album is distorted sounding by stylistic choice, specifically in the vocals and the sound is tailored perfectly to blend with that style while still keeping it detailed and clear in the soundstage. The mids are thankfully present as well but the bottom end bass seems a little too thinned out to my liking. That is about the only aspect I can think of to critisize the product on because I do love great bass in music. If this was a 2x record set it would easily have killed it with a perfect score Im sure but while there is room for improvement I wish that more modern records sounded like this one.Equipment used:Rega RP1 with Nagaoka MP-110 cartridgeCyrus 2 AmplifierSystem Fidelity SF5030 tower speakers Custom made HQ speaker cables
