  • Saxophonist Maceo Parker (North Carolina 1943) is one of the key figures in the funk. He played in the band of James Brown and later also in Parliament-Funkadelic and together with Prince. From 1990 indicative Parker is on a solo career in which he, especially at live shows, relying heavily on the work of his former backers. Parker is also an accomplished singer who, when he his sunglasses, a flawless imitation of his hero Ray Charles can give. Parker and his band regularly in Netherlands (including at the North Sea Jazz Festival) and always attract full houses with their swirling funk show.
